The department of oriental martial arts aims to train international martial arts specialists by instilling the theories and practices and trains talents to be instructors. There are individual and exclusive practicing rooms so as to provide the students with opportunities for each subject. After the graduation, it is opened to work as the specialists in the various physical exercise fields such as sports related institutes, public officers, policemen, and security service field etc. Also, it is possible to undergo in-depth academic activities in the graduate school.
Based on the inquiry of theory and practice of oriental martial arts and systematic scientific education, it aims to train international specialists regarding oriental programs.
The department of oriental martial arts are composed of fencing, dragon martial arts and taekkyun. The fencing program has a world class level of technique and the dragon martial arts informs the superiority of Korean dragons to the world. The taekkyun, as the only traditional martial arts that is designated an invisible cultural asset (No. 76), attempts to develop global martial arts. Those students who possess aptitude tests based on the specialized, systematic theory and practice as to become specialized instructors.
The students in the department of oriental martial arts are raising the reputations of country and school from the excellent records in international competitions. Through the nationwide middle and high school fencing competitions, it raises the practice capacity under real conditions. It encourages students to acquire licenses. Moreover, for the training of humane manpower with language and information capacity. In addition, some corporations require English and computer use specializations. The alumni is actively participating in public officer, security service etc. careers.
